Research Workshops

Accounting doctoral students are immersed in a vibrant learning community at Michigan State University. An integral part of the program is the accounting workshop series and summer research workshops. Visiting scholars from major research universities, current MSU faculty, and doctoral students present papers, providing an abundance of learning and collaboration opportunities.

 PricewaterhouseCoopers Summer Research Workshop

This two-day intensive summer research workshop sponsored by PricewaterhouseCoopers is designed to provide doctoral students and faculty with in-depth exposure to leading scholars and contemporary research in a particular area of research. This workshop consists of morning lectures followed by afternoon discussions of research papers. Recent summer workshop leaders have included:

  • 2012: Douglas Skinner, John P. and Lillian A. Gould Professor of Accounting, University of Chicago
  • 2011:  William Kinney, Jr., Charles & Elizabeth Prothro Regents Chair in Business and PriceWaterhouse Fellow in Auditing, University of Texas at Austin
  • 2010:  Lillian Mills, Professor and Deloitte and Touche Centennial Faculty Fellow in Accounting, University of Texas at Austin
  • 2009: Jeff Sprinkle, Professor of Accounting, Indiana University

Global Management Accounting Research Symposium

GMARS is a research symposium that rotates annually around the world. Every third year it is at Michigan State University and in June 2016, GMARS will be hosted here.
