Research

Accounting and Information Systems faculty conduct research in a number of areas:

  1. financial accounting, focusing on the link between accounting information and capital markets
  2. auditing, focusing on the audit function, which sits between the accounting information produced  by the firm and capital markets
  3. managerial accounting, focusing on the link between accounting information and internal users
  4. tax, focusing on the link between accounting information and taxation authorities as well as the capital markets
  5. governance, focusing on corporate economic activities, which in turn drive accounting information
  6. information systems, focusing on systems that collect, store, and generate accounting information

The issues are addressed from a variety of perspectives and methodologies‚ÄĒanalytical, archival, experimental, surveys, case studies, field studies, and simulations.

We are very proud of our research accomplishments. We hope to give you a feel for the breadth of research that is being done at MSU and the impact it is having on real-world practice and behavior.
